Duties include:
You will provide customer service to participants, union locals and providers regarding eligibility, benefits and claim status.
Requirements
Qualified candidates must have prior experience in health claims processing or working with health claims records AND prior experience in customer service.
Must also have knowledge of benefits claims processing, a good understanding of medical and/or dental terminology and procedures
The ability to read, analyze and interpret technical procedures, benefit plans and regulations.
Additional skills required include
The ability to calculate discounts, interest, proportions and percentages and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Your level of skills and experience will determine your level in the job progression.
This is an hourly position under an office union contract, with a full-time schedule of 37.5 hours/week.

This job is responsible for performing receptionist, registration and clerical duties associated with patient admission and related activities in accordance with internal standards and guidelines and regulatory requirements. Work includes collecting, recording and distributing patient demographic and financial information via computer and manual systems. An incumbent verifies and explains authorizations and referrals for patient services. Work also involves handling cash, receiving payments from patients for hospital and medical services rendered, and recording amount received.
Work requires knowledge of insurances and privacy/confidentiality practices, as well as knowledge of medical terminology and the patient registration process.
Qualifications
Education/Work Experience Requirements:
High School diploma (or GED equivalent), successful completion of an accredited medical terminology course(s) or equivalent on-the-job training, and one year of work experience in patient registration, insurance verification or related function OR any combination of education and experience that would demonstrate the capability to perform the duties of the position.
Job Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of hospital financial options and payment alternatives, and insurance requirements.
Knowledge of insurance contract information, authorization guidelines and notification procedures.
Knowledge of the functionality of automated (ADT) systems.
Basic knowledge of federal and state payor requirements, including Medicare, DSHS, L&I, HMO and PPO Contracts.
Knowledge of the meaning and usage of medical terminology and abbreviations sufficient to perform the duties of the position.
Knowledge of basic insurance billing requirements.
Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, and to maintain strict confidentiality of information.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as required by the duties of the position.
Ability to work with team members to analyze and resolve issues for continuous process improvement.
Ability to understand and apply basic mathematical functions such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and percentages.
Ability to recognize compliance challenges relating to policies, standards and requirements
