The Pharmacy Technician operates under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist and performs those technical duties that are not by law, rule or regulation performed only by a registered pharmacist. Completion of a pharmacy technician training program is required. Must have Pharmacy Technician licensure. Board Certification is preferred. This position will be supporting Pyxis Implementation. External Description:
Olympia, WA - Providence St. Peter Hospital - Pharmacy.
Performs duties relating to the filling and dispensing of unit dose, IV and
stock medications from the pharmacy to the nursing units and other ancillary
departments in a prompt and accurate manner. Performs all duties in a manner
that promotes teamwork and reflects the Sisters of Providence Mission and
Philosophy.
Minimum qualifications: Education: Successful completion of a Pharmacy
Technician Level A program certified by the Washington State Board of Pharmacy
or equivalent experience. A course in medical terminology is preferred. Training
and Experience: Experience should include at least three months of practical
experience in a hospital pharmacy under the direction of a pharmacist. One to
two years of hospital pharmacy experience preferred, but training in a retail
pharmacy will be accepted. IV admixture experience preferred. Must have
experience in dealing with phone triage and difficult situations. Requires
current Washington State Board of Pharmacy Technician registration and

Our Pharmacy Department has an outstanding opportunity for a Pharmacy Technician 1. This individual will assist the Pharmacist in professional activities and perform assigned tasks. All activities of Pharmacy Technicians are performed under the direct supervision of a registered Pharmacist. Additionally, the person in this role may engage in preparation and packaging of medications and other pharmacy related functions.
Competitive candidates will be able to effectively triage and communicate with patients, have ability to perform computer entry of prescriptions and charge/credit data, and perform bulk compounding of pharmaceuticals from a formula, under the supervision of a Pharmacist. Inherent to success in this position is organizational skills and use of professional judgment.

Desired Qualifications include six months of experience as a Pharmacy Assistant OR equivalent education/experience.
