The Pharmacy Technician at Group Health will:
Answer a high volume of phone calls in the pharmacy call center.
Accurately process a high volume of prescription orders; data entry.
Customer service and problem solving, including Medicare Part D-related issues.
Fill a high volume of prescriptions in an automated setting.
Put inventory on shelves
Package orders.
Job Specifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Pharmacy Technicians must have current experience working in a computerized outpatient pharmacy setting. Previous Group Health experience preferred.
Pharmacy Technicians must have completed an approved training program.
Pharmacy Technician Certification from the State of Washington Board of Pharmacy.
May be required to stand, walk and/or sit throughout the assigned shift.
Lift and carry up to 10 pounds, and occasional lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds is required. Interaction with CRTS, PCs, and other technological systems throughout the day is common. Climbing, stooping, bending, reaching, and kneeling activities are often required.
Must have strong communication and problem solving skills to work with consumers and other health care providers.

POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for accessing Charity Assistance Programs offered by pharmaceutical
manufacturers. These companies offer free drugs or free drug replacement when
their products are prescribed for outpatients or administered to inpatients that
meet specified eligibility criteria. Potentially eligible patients may be
referred from a variety of points within Providence Alaska Medical Center. Once
a patient has been referred, the incumbent will work with the patient, physician
and drug manufacturer to ascertain eligibility file required forms and
documentation and arrange for drug distribution to the patient and/or recovery
to PAMC. The incumbent will also work with Patient Financial Services and
Patient Billing to maintain accurate patient bills.

Principal Duties And Functions (* indicates essential functions):
1. Maintains updated information on pharmaceutical manufacturer indigent care
programs.
2. Accepts referrals for current patients being seen at PAMC who may be eligible
for patient assistance programs offered by pharmaceutical manufacturers.
3. Determines patient eligibility and processes application forms or refers
patients back to PAMC Patient Financial Services for assistance.
4. Assists eligible patients in obtaining medical supplies from compassionate
care programs.
5. Works with Patient Financial Services as well as Health Services Northwest,
to maintain accurate patient accounts.
6. Works with Pharmacy Department in setting up policies and procedures for
appropriate tracking of replacement drugs from participating pharmaceutical
manufacturers.
7. Maintains statistical data on the number of patients served, amount of
assistance provided,(drugs, dollar value, etc). and other information pertinent
to position and report to appropriate department.
8. Establishes effective working relationships with PHS physicians, care
managers and other care providers.
9. Consults with clinical pharmacists on alternative drug therapies for specific
patients in order to maximize available assistance.
10. Implement care/services that recognize age/diversity specific needs/issues
of customers served.
11. Performs other related duties as required.
