Obtain and record vital signs and other appropriate information, such as height, weight, drug allergies, current medications and presenting problem. Perform sight and hearing tests as indicated.• Ensure confirmation of patient identity with each patient encounter.• Obtain specimens according to clinic policies and procedures.• Under supervision of practitioner or nurse supervisor, administer approved medications via oral, subcutaneous, intramuscular or intradermal routes.• Provide patient mobility assistance as necessary.• Inform patients of lab results, call in prescriptions to pharmacies and return practitioners phone messages as directed by practitioner.• Document all interactions in patient’s medical record.• Dispose of contaminated items according to Physician Division Exposure Control Plan.• According to clinic standards, prepare, clean and sterilize instruments and maintain equipment; keep patient exam rooms clean and orderly; anticipate practitioner’s needs for medications, supplies and equipment and plan accordingly.• Provide patient education as directed by practitioner and/or nurse supervisor. • Actively participate in continuing education and clinic staff meetings.• Consistently meet skill based competency expectations established for the system.• Possess basic knowledge of medications and their use, to include brand and generic names• Possess basic knowledge of vaccines• Prove competence in the use of our electronic medical record system • Perform sight and hearing tests as indicated.• May draw blood; Perform common clinic screening tests, such as, but not limited to, Ekg, lab, Xray • Remove sutures.• Assist with the clinic management of adult and child immunizations. • Assist practitioner with diagnostic tests and clinical procedures.• Arrange for patient testing, referrals and/or hospital admission under direction of the provider.• Schedule patient appointments and perform other clerical duties as needed.• Assist in collecting and distributing patient education materials.
