Physical Therapy Assistant- Great Outpatient Clinic Experience! We are looking for a part time Physical Therapy Aide for our busy outpatient physical therapy clinic on First Hill. This is a perfect job for anyone interested in physical therapy, manual therapies, modality experience, or clinic experience; also appropriate for gaining required experience hours for PT school applications. The hours are Mondays 7AM-5PM and Tuesdays 7AM-6PM, totaling 19 hours per week. The bulk of this job involves providing logistical support to the clinical staff (laundry, room preparation, restocking,)welcoming and preparing patients for treatments, managing clinic flow and efficiency, and bridging communication between patients, office staff, and therapists. Direct patient care is also involved, including applying treatment modalities (ultrasound, electrical stimulation and respond units, ice, and moist heat) for pain relief and muscle activation. The Aide position also assists therapists with foot orthotic adjustments and footwear inserts. The successful candidate will be energetic, friendly, outgoing, self-directed, organized, responsible, flexible, and enjoy working with people. You will provide clinical support to the provider’s practice by assisting in the coordination and delivery of patient care. The MA’s communication, conduct and performance should support the Polyclinic’s efforts in becoming a High Performance Organization. HOURS: days; Monday-Friday RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Coordinate physician activities and facilitate patient and paper flow in the office. 2. Greet patients, triage phone calls and schedule appointments. 3. Administers medications under physician direction. 4. Under physician direction assist with treatments and minor surgical procedures as needed. 5. Maintain medical records. 6. Complete patient billing. Complete and track referrals. 7. Work as a team member within the nursing department and with all other Polyclinic departments. 8. Perform other related duties as assigned. Requirements: Education: 1. Minimum high school education or its equivalency 2. One of the following: A. Completion of a medical assistant program. B. Completion of military medical corpsman program . Experience: Prefer at least one year of experience as a medical assistant, but new grads will be considered for some positions. Certification/Licensure: 1. State certification to administer injections required. 2. Completion of national certification exam preferred. Skills: 1. Ability to problem solve patient medical and non-medical problems 2. Organizational skills and ability to prioritize responsibilities 3. Ability to perform EKGs preferred. Other Requirements: 1. May require lifting patients (i.e. assisting patients from wheelchair to exam tables). 2. Requires frequent changes of assignment. 3. Requires ability to work in a fast paced environment. 4. May require occasional extra hours of work based on patient needs. 5. Good oral and written command of the English language. 6. Regular attendance is required. 7. Must be able to effectively cope with typical job stress. 8. Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Managers and peers.
