Dental Assistant Positions

Dental Assistant Dental Assistant FT; S.Seattle; jpdentistry@msn.com Dental Assistant Dental procedures and other related duties as required in a dental clinic and/or al Assistants work under the supervision of a Dentist or Dental Hygienist in a variety of dental preparation and prevention community setting. This full time position at the Downtown Public Health Center serves a primarily adult clientele and targets homeless persons in downtown Seattle. Examples of Duties: 1. Act as a chairside assistant; operate oral evacuation system. 2. Take intra-oral and extra-oral radiographs. Perform oral inspections without diagnosis. 3. Apply dental sealants in clinical and community settings. Apply topical preventative agents. 4. Assist dentist with emergency procedures. 5. Perform other duties as allowed by the Washington State Dental Practice Act 18.32. 6. Maintain operatories and dental spaces in good working order and insure compliance with OSHA/WISHA requirements. 7. Clean and sterilize dental instruments in accordance with State and Federal requirements. 8. Educate patients in oral hygiene. 9. Maintain patient flow. 10. Maintain files as well as related treatment and client education records. Qualifications: Completion of a recognized Dental Assistant course program or equivalent experience. Working knowledge of methods and techniques used in dental assisting. Working knowledge of terminology, materials, equipment and instruments used in dentistry. Working knowledge of dental radiograph techniques and principles. Demonstrated ability to effectively manage your own and patient schedules. Demonstrated ability to maintain patient files and other records in accordance with practice guidelines and applicable regulations. Demonstrated ability to manage behavioral problems in a dental clinic setting. Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with clients of diverse socio-economic and cultural backgrounds as well as the ability to work with clients for whom English is a second language. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience in a public/community health center or clinic setting desired. Experience working with challenging or difficult clients desired.
