Position – Medical Assistant
Scope and Purpose
Coordinates and prepares patients for the PET/CT exam and helps maintain patient flow under the general direction of the technologist. Screens patients for pregnancy. Explains PET/CT procedure, obtains patient history, helps dress patients for exam and assists them to the unit. Enters patient data on computer system, completes patient billing and other paperwork. Must be able to sit with/assist patient during exam.
Cleans equipment and changes linen.
Assists technologists with positioning patients and transferring inpatients as necessary.
Responsible for transporting patients to and from the center/mobile from the hospital floors.
Under the direction of the PET/CT technologist, may perform radiation area surveys and wipe tests. May perform certain QC procedures in the hot lab.
